There are numerous beaches near to Finca Cigüeña that are just a short drive away.

Here are just a few...

Bolonia

The fabulous sand-dune and pine-tree backed beach at Bolonia has its official naturist / nudist section at the far left end facing the sea. This is known as El Chorritohere where there are plenty of dunes and coves if you are looking for privacy. Here it is possible to walk forever along virgin sands until you lose all track or trace of civilization. Don’t be surprised, though, if you meet people coming towards you caked in mud; just keep going until to get to seams of grey crumbly slate in the cliff-side, mix with water and give yourself a therapeutic mud-bath. To the west of the town lies a 130-metre ecological treasure, the Ruins of Baelo Claudio – now Bolonia (see Things to Do).

El Palmar

Quite the most stunning beach about 15 to 20 minutes drive away.  There  is plentiful parking along the beach front but there is also cheap parking in the fields nearby.  The beach has family, topless and nudist areas.

Even on the busiest Sunday in August there is still plenty of room and there is no crowding.  See the panoramic photo above.

Playa del Puerco

Take the road north out of Conil and follow the signs for the Port of Conil.  Shortly after the lighthouse there is parking on the right.  The climb down to the beaches is very steep, not for the faint hearted, but when you get there the beach is beautiful and protected especially if the Levante is blowing.  Popular with the locals in the summer.

Barbate

Further down the caost from Bolonia is the town of Barbate.  Here there are restuarants and plenty of facilities.  The beaches are good and ideal for families.

Nova Sancti Petri

Nova Sancti Petri is a large German development but it sits on the beautiful Atlantic Coast.  The beach is very wide so never feels crowded.  Mostly family orientated but if you move away from the hotels you will find topless and nudist areas.  It is is easy reach of Finca Cigüeña being only 20 minutes drive away.  It has the added convenience of a number of hotels where you can get tea / coffee or a meal.
Cape Trafalgar & Los Canos de Meca

Scene of the Battle of Trafalgar where you can take a walk up to the lighthouse for glorious views of the unspoilt beaches, about 15 minutes south of Conil. Plentiful parking 5 minutes walk from the beach.  Bit of a Bohemian scene here with plenty of kite sailing to entertain you. Mainly topless but if you leave the lighthouse to your left there is endless sandy beach in front of you where there is plenty of room for nudist sunbathing.

Playa de Barrosa

Here there are excellent beaches with restaurant facilities and shops near the top of the beach where you park. This is a good family beach.

Conil de la Frontera (Playa de los Bateles)

This beach is set along the front of the town of Conil de la Frontera.  Gloriousley sandy it has the convenience of many beach bars that set up in the summer.  During the high season there are also lifeguards.  It is very easy to walk from the beach straight into town.  Definately a familly beach.

Cadiz

The city of Cadiz is built on a peninsula.  There are plenty of beaches on the way - the beaches have blue flag status.  Victoria beach is lined with cafes (chiringuitos), in the evenings the beaches are floodlit encouraging evening entertainement.  La Caleta is an excellent family beach and was used in the James Bond Film "Die Another Day."

You will find more about the local beaches in the "House Book" and it is also worth reading the comments left by previous guests on beaches, restaurants and places to visit.

Finca Cigüeña has a well stocked bookcase.  These are books left by previous guests.  Hopefully you will find some suitable reading whilst lying on the beach.  If you haven't finished a book by the end of your holiday please feel free to take it home but kindly leave behind a book you brought out with you!
