Visit the stud of Yeguada de la Cartuja.  The State of Fuente del Suero is home to the most important reserve of Andalucian horse, Cartujano lineage worldwide.  Visit the stud on a Saturday starting at 11.00.  You will get a full guided tour including the stallion yard and mare barn.  There is a full show with free running colts, hitches, classical dressage and "cobras" of mares (a group of mares tied together with one handler).  Ends around 1.30pm.

Somtimes the endless days of sun are too much so why not make a change and take the children to Jerez Zoo ? There are all sorts of animals on show, it's very clean and there is a good cafe.

Africa is only a short hop away so why not visit Tangier (Tangiers) (Tanger) in Morroco for the day.  Dirham is a non-convertible currency out of the country so you use the ATM machines carrying VISA or Maestro logos to acquire some cash.  There are plenty of restaurants and markets to explore.  You can leave your car at the port of Tarifa.

Muñecas Doll Museum, Chiclana de la Frontera is the home to doll making since 1928, open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 1.00pm.  Free entry.

Turn back the clock and take the steam ferry El Vapor de El Puerto across the Bay of Cadiz. to El Puerto.  Regular crossings except Mondays.

Tarifa is only an hours drive to the South and takes you to the most Southern tip of Spain where you can easily see Africa so why not try  Dolphin and Whale watching.  After a briefing you will embark on a launch and head out into the Straits of Gibralter.  Lookouts search for the dolphins and whales which can be seen close to the launch.  This is very much weather dependant.  Because the Straits are so narrow the sea can get quite rough.  Speak to our agent and they will check out the conditions for you and advise accordingly.  This is a great days entertainment.

You can go diving at Nova Sancti Petri and at the Hotel Fuerte at Conil.  Both have a full range of equipment to hire.

For those of you who prefer to stay above the water there are endless beaches ideal for surfing and kite sailing and there is a school at Cape Trafalgar.  El Palmer and  Caños de Meca are both popular for this sport.

Aqualand near Jerez de la Frontera is less than half an hour away.  Here you can try the Black Hole, Crazy Race, Rapids, Super Slalom, Kamikazi, Surf Beach and the Mini Park for toddlers.  There is plenty to do for all.

Camaleón Bike Sport Center in Conil, offer you a daily program of guided cycle tours and also bike renting with a great variety of bikes.  Conil is about 20 minutes away.  They also organise Kayak and boat fishing trips in the Bay of Biscay.

Europes biggest national park is just a short distance north of Cadiz, Parque Nacional de Donaña is a haven for bird watchers.  You cannot drive through the park but you can take boat trips from Sanlucar - details are in the house.  Interestringly a documentary was recently shown on National Geographic suggesting the park is the home to the missing city Atlantis... read more...
